10 days of music this June

Don’t miss St John’s music festival, which runs from Friday June 15 until Sunday June 24, the traditional feast day of St John-the-Baptist.

Events include cello, brass, organ and string concerts. Some are professional and some involve up-and-coming local talent from schools and colleges, not to mention an open-mic night. Handbills and posters like the graphic above are available in the church for you to display around town.

The music festival culminates on St John-the-Baptist day, when the main 9:30 parish communion service will be set to Mozart’s Sparrow Mass accompanied by a string orchestra. Wind chamber music will enliven the afternoon. Festival evensong at 5pm will include choral music by Haydn and Stanford.
